Look what I’ve just found!

After incorrectly spelling my own URL (Oops!) I was really surprised at what Google threw up!

Apparently I was featured in a blogging feature on BBC – Stoke and Staffordshire in the Community features in November, Staffordshire Blogging by Tommy Hill.

I’m featured alongside ‘Good Food Shops’, ‘Bacon, Cheese and Oatcakes’, Sir Findo Gask, Moriarty the Mundane, Caroline Kay, Barry Stamp, Stoke Sounds, Darkkat, Tell Me a Story, and A Foreigner in Stoke.

Some interesting blogging going on and I’m very surprised to see that I was featured! Today BBC Stoke and Staffordshire tomorrow the World 🙂

Presentation Feedback

Here is the feedback provided by my tutor for my recent presentation (here):

“A thorough, wide-ranging and interesting presentation that illustrated the important contribution your placement has made to Fierce Earth. This dynamic, cutting edge production company have spotted something rare in you – energy, professional commitment, and a determination to start something new. You showed good creative and technical skills in handling communication technologies; these were real evidence of understanding relevant techniques in the field. They are also skills that are really valuable for your own future development and for Fierce Earth. You had carried out appropriate research in breadth and depth and showed an awareness of current issues in the field of live art development. You were evidently well prepared and had planned and rehearsed the work, but you could improve on your own body language when presenting (stop that old twisted feet routine) and although you had provided little prompt cards for yourself, you still need to practice more relaxed and fluent eye contact with your listeners. Find ways of ‘performing’ the confidence you deservedly can have in your own work. Your vocal delivery could be more confident and more varied in tone – nerves tend to ‘flatten’ your voice a little, so try some breathing exercises before formal presentations. The structure of your presentation could have been sharpened by a more rigorous selection of material, and by thinking through ways of bringing the thing to a more interesting conclusion. Nevertheless, very good work. Well done.”

So…improvements to make for next time following my production module are:

Presenting skills
Confidence in delivery and content
Delivery to peers to sharpen and information included

Now for the Oral exam on the 15th January!?!

Happy 2009!

Just a quick post to wish all those who know and have supported me so far with my placement and MA a Happy New Year!

Thanks for those of you who visit and take an interest in the exciting work that Fierce and Creative Republic are involved with and long may it continue!

Happy 2009, here’s hoping it is a good one! 🙂

Placement Presentation

Last night at 7pm was my presentation for the placement module of my MA (the reason why I have been blogging!). I thought I’d share the presentation and the content with you here, feel free to leave comments or suggestions on how you prepare for presentations, and combat those nerves!

Placement Update

Over the past couple of weeks I have worked on a number of blog posts for the Fierce Earth blog, worked on general documents for Fierce and helped Simon with the Fierce Christmas Card…something worth getting excited about!

On Tuesday was the Fierce Christmas Dinner at the Red Lion in Hockley (one of Helga’s favourite new pubs) it was loooovely! Food was great, company even better with bonus of Secret Santa and paper hats! Now I’m feeling suitably festive!

I have been working on my presentation which is looming…7pm on Monday 15th, and since I scrapped my original I have now started all over again with the focus on “what I have learned, what I want to learn now” and so on…

This is when I thank my blog so I can refer to all those things which I have done and become self-reflective, in a practical way!

What do you think I have learned? I have achieved my learning outcomes?

As you can see this is still work in progress…help!
